Driving unit consists of A Toyota Diesel Engine of 70 HP is used as main driving unit. It is water cooled engine and self started. Worm reduction gear of gear ratio 50:1 is used to driving shaft and subsequent speed for different unit for Hot Mix Plant are adjusted through the dia of chain sprocket

 

Main body of the drum is made with 5/16” MS Sheet. The length of drum is 10' and dia is 2.5'. The drum outside covered with asbestos to prevent the heat loss. There are two MS Ring attached with drum on four roller for right rotation. Sprocket is used in another ring on drum which is connected with driving shaft by chain. Drum is rotated by the rotation of drive shaft. There is a Morage Ring of extra dia attached with the end of the Dryer Drum is used as a stone storage tank. Generally there are two Batch Storage Rings for storage. Whole drum outside painted with anti corrosive boiler paint.

 

Decanter provide positioning and heating zone of bitumen drum to be heated at temperature about 160 o C. Diesel burner is used to heating the bitumen. Its main part made by 3/16” MS sheet. Temperature sensing dial gage attached to sensing temperature of bitumen. Inside the decanter, temperature of bitumen is maintaining between 180 o C. Bitumen Transfer Pump is used to transfer the melted bitumen to measuring bucket. The pump is connected with PT Shaft by clutching mechanism so that it can start or stop as needed

 

It is made by 1/8” MS sheet. Measuring bucket is used manually carry on the required amount of bitumen to the drum mixer. Its length is 30” and width is 12” and 10” in top and bottom. Its capacity is 28 kg. There is a measuring stick to determining amount of bitumen.

It is a chain bucket conveyer system to convey stone chips to the heating tunnel. Speed of conveyer controlled by worm reduction gear driving by diesel engine. It is made by MS sheet. There are 20 no of bucket and conveyer speed is 30 rpm.

 

Hopper is used to control the amount and temperature of stone chips which will mix with bitumen in drum mixer. The length of hopper is 3' and width is 2' and depth is 1'. Maximum capacity of bucket is 5 cft. There are two controlling handle to control the opening of the hopper. Hopper is made by MS sheet. Heated stone chips are accumulating in it. There is a remote sensing dial gage attached for sensing desired temperature.

 

Drum mixer provided the mixing zone of heated bitumen and stone chips. It is made by 3/16 “double length MS sheet. There are two parts in drum mixer. One is drum body and another is mixing blade which rotation provides the mixing operation. The body of drum shape is a half circle of 24” dia. There are two shafts with blade inside the drum. Its wall inclination reduces the splashing of mixer. Blade shaft dia is 4”. There is an exit gate of 6” width for unloading operation of asphalt.
